This is NOT a physical product. This listing is for a downloadable PDF file of our Wild Lavender soap recipe.

This soap was a main product line soap for years and is a proven bestseller! We also have a YouTube "making of" video for this recipe.

This soap recipe is all-natural, vegan, and palm-oil free!

Wild Lavender is a woodsy twist on a classic lavender soap and is our most requested scent blend! I know a lot of you will be happy that this recipe is finally available. :) This soap is made with coconut milk for an amazingly creamy and gentle lather and is exfoliating, due to the sandalwood powder.

This recipe is great for an advanced beginner that wants to try working with a slightly accelerating essential oil. Fir needle can accelerate, which is why we categorize this recipe as beginner/intermediate.

This is a comprehensive 11-page PDF download, which includes a one-page quick recipe that you can easily print and a full step-by-step instruction guide. We also include the recipe calculator from soapcalc.net.

Please note that this is a beginner/intermediate recipe and is not intended for a brand new soapmaker! Do not purchase unless you're confident that you can do the following:

  • make and use a 50/50 lye-water solution (instructions included)
  • use additional liquids (coconut milk)
  • work with accelerating essential oils

Essential oils used in this recipe:

  • lavender, fir needle, patchouli, juniper berry

If you've made soap before, you shouldn't have any trouble following the instructions, even if you've never made a 50/50 lye-water solution. We walk you through all the steps but having a few batches under your belt will definitely benefit you!

This recipe is the exact recipe we use to make our Wild Lavender soap that has been part of our main product line for years. Since we won't be making it very often, we've decided to share it with all of you!

You may NOT share or re-sell this recipe PDF. You are welcome to make and sell the soap you make from this recipe, with credit to Muddy Mint. You may also call your soap Wild Lavender and let people know that it's the same soap we used to make!

Love this recipe

Very creamy soap. But I accidently double the colors combination, got nervous in the beginning but the soap turn out gorgeous.
Thank you, Simi! Looking forward for more gorgeous soap recipe. Your explanation is top notch and very detail.

Hello Simi!
I made this soap last week and love the creaminess and smell, but the color of my soap was not the deep, dark purple that I was hoping for. My soap came out a light purple, almost grey color. What went wrong?
I used Brambleberry's Red Sandalwood powder + purple brazilian clay. I did change the amount of coconut milk to only 3.5 ounces for my 2 pound batch.

Hi Cathy,

You get support with all recipes you purchase, so please email me at the email address located on the last page of the recipe. Natural colorants aren't as stable as synthetic colorants, so sometimes you get unexpected results, even when purchasing from the same place. The color might also change as the bar cures as well. This is part of the fun (and challenge!) of using natural colorants. If you prefer something more predictable, I'd try only using the purple clay, or include less red sandalwood. Again, I'd love to help you over email! That way you can send me pictures as well. Thanks and I'm so happy you love the scent and feel of the bar. Simi

Great Recipe

After years of Simi inspiring me with her soap, I was very excited to try her recipes out. The scent of this soap is amazing!! The lavender really pops! The depth of this scent unreal. I had a big hiccup in the beginning, but Simi was there to help me get through it. It was a misunderstanding on my end. I misunderstood the 50/50 lye solution. Once I understood it, the soap turned out beautifully. My soap color was not as vibrant, but that is due to the red sandalwood powder not being as red. I wasn’t hung up on the color at all. This one is definitely going to be one of my favorite soaps.

Hi Jill,

I'm so sorry that your first experience with our recipes was less than stellar. I received your email, so for those reading this review, please know that this customer used only half the amount of lye needed, which explains why this soap didn't set up. This is part of the confusion of using a 50/50 lye water solution, if you're not used to it. The recipe is written as if you are mixing the lye and water from scratch. If you use a pre-made solution, you just have to make sure to get the math right! I am happy to help with this and we will add this information to future recipes as well. Let me know how the next batch goes, Jill!
